"Merit Brewing first opened in May, 2017 and was founded by Tej Sandhu, Aaron Spinney, and Jesse Vallins. Tej and Aaron met in Hamilton while attending school. After their careers had them living apart the duo decided the time was right to create the brewery they dreamed of years ago."
"This newer arrival to the west end is committed to both creativity and tradition. Visitors have a tough choice choosing between favourites like American Oat Porter and High Grade American IPA in a warehouse-based taproom. After sampling, take home some souvenir bottles, howlers (32 oz.) or growlers (64 oz.)."
"Shawn Till and Ed Madronich are long time pals and former MacMaster alumni who always dreamed of owning their own craft brewery in Hamilton. The brewery building has a unique history in Canada. Jenna Anderson, Director of Marketing explained, “we often compare our buildings history to the Forest Gump film as there are so many touch points with Canadian history."
"Craft beer fans in Dundas love the lagershed line of craft beers at Shawn & Ed Brewing Co. on 65 Hatt St. Shawn Till and Ed Madronich restored this historic Dundas brick building for their brewery. The building was 150 years old and badly needed work. The masthead out front shows 65 Hatt Street was originally built as a curling and skating rink."
"Brad Clifford first launched Clifford Brewing Company in Hamilton in January, 2015. The new brewery opened in the Fall of 2017, while its taproom and retail store welcomed guests in 2018. The space was formerly a mattress factory and when purchased was just an open industrial space."
"Joe and Lindsey Mrav opened Grain & Grit Beer Co in October, 2017. The Hamilton couple who have always loved craft beer made their dream a reality after hiring Alex Sporn as Head Brewer. The Hamilton brewery’s name comes from the quote, “Your dreams are on the other side of your grit.” The Mrav’s were thinking about the ingredients that it takes to start a brewery, and happily settled on Grain & Grit."
"In in the west end of the city, this family-run brewery is just a short hop from McMaster University. Its head brewer Alex Sporn brings a European flair to his creations, thanks to the wee town in Germany where he grew up. Also a former winemaker, he’s now applying his skills to small-batch beer."
"Silversmith Brewing Company is also located in Virgil, across the street from The Twisted Vine and The Pie Plate. The Niagara on the Lake brewery first opened its doors on Canada Day in 2012. "Besides its astounding natural beauty, the highlight of the Devil’s Punchbowl falls is the 450 million years of history it preserves in its geological formation. Different layers and colors of rocks reveal the evolution of earth through these years. This 37 meter waterfall at the Niagara Escarpment is well known for its unparalleled grandiose and beauty."
"This tall thin waterfall pours over a deep multi-coloured gorge that's a history lesson in geology and one of the most stunning natural formations along the Niagara Escarpment. Look for the huge cross perched nearby for more spectacular views of Stoney Creek and Hamilton Harbour."
"This one might be a bit on the difficult side for young families, but we thought we would include it for the picture alone. Aside from the unique rock formations, a variety of birds can be seen in the vicinity."

"Of the more than 100 waterfalls known to be located on the Niagara Escarpment, many of the most picturesque can be found within the city limits of Hamilton. The most popular of these is the spectacular Albion Falls, also known as "lover's leap." Standing nearly 20 meters tall, this cascade falls is located where the fast flowing Red Hill Creek flows over the escarpment, along the way passing over a number of downward steps that add significantly to the appeal. Some of the best views can be had from King's Forest Park."
"We carried on west (we’re up on the Escarpment, for those keeping track) to go and see Chedoke Falls. Unfortunately, we hadn’t planned that well because we didn’t realize you couldn’t see Chedoke Falls because it’s off Scenic Drive (the road). Instead, you need to pull off into Balfour Park or come at it from the Bruce Trail to the north and follow the water in the reserve direction of the flow."
