The best things you can do for free in Vancouver
"Vancouver's Chinatown has a couple of notable parks to visit. The neighborhood's Dr Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden charges admission, but right next door is the free-entry Dr Sun Yat-Sen Park that echoes the same ancient horticultural ideals. The paid attraction is more ornate and has guided tours, but its freebie sibling includes a similar turtle-rippled lily pond and terracotta-topped perimeter walls."

Great Free Things to Do in Vancouver
"Queen Elizabeth Park is Vancouver’s highest point, clocking in at 410ft (125m) above sea level. Thanks to its central location, the park has some of the best views of the city’s impressive skyline, with a stunning backdrop of the North Vancouver mountains. The park is a popular picnic spot, with plenty of green space to relax with family or friends."

The Best Photoshoot Locations In Vancouver (with examples)
"Home to the Bloedel Conservatory and Seasons in the Park, Queen Elizabeth Park in the Shaughnessy/Cambie area is a major Vancouver tourist attraction. And for that reason, isn’t my favourite place to photograph. It tends to be very busy through spring, fall and summer, especially on weekends and evenings."

11 Best Parks in Vancouver
"Built in 1975 on a former golf course, VanDusen Botanical Garden is spread over 55 acres in Vancouver’s exclusive Shaughnessy neighborhood, about a ten-minute drive from the city’s downtown core. The sheer variety of plant life on display is incredible, and as you meander the garden’s paths you’ll encounter over 7,500 plants and trees from seven separate geographic regions. But it’s more than just another “plant museum,” so to speak: from the meditation garden and Elizabethan maze to the bubbling streams that cascade from the park’s waterfall, this is one of the more stunning and serene spots in Vancouver."

Vancouver's Best Breweries
"A classic good beer and grub joint, Strange Fellows has it all. You’ve probably picked up a pack of SF tall boys, but if you haven’t checked out their East Van tasting room you’re missing out. Besides being as hip as you’d expect anything to be in East Van, SF also hosts the Charles Clark Gallery where you can admire the work of a bunch of rotating local artists."
Mentioned by Vancouver Magazine
"The black-walled tasting room with idol-like animal masks and adjoining art gallery has East Van edginess, while the award-winning beer program is helmed by veteran guru brewer Iain Hill, who consistently puts out inventive but crowd-pleasing stuff (think sour-beer pioneer). There’s a cult feel here ."

Their brews embody the fun of craft beer and their flavours showcase a diversity of original flavours. The tasting room acts as a refuge for beer afficiandos and newcomers alike, and allows visitors to enjoy sampler sizes of everything from ales, lagers, malts and popular seasonal brews."

Vancouver's Brew Pubs and Breweries
"Started by three East Van friends who were home brew and craft beer enthusiasts years before they opened their own brewery, these guys create fun and tasty beers. They're not afraid to take some risks and you'll find unique blends here that hit the spot. At the brewery you'll find a mixture of brews that are always available and some seasonal options."

Ranking Vancouver’s Best Breweries
"A massive overhaul to their taproom along with a more dedicated shift in focus to start creating some really inventive beer has Parallel ranking much higher than we would have given them credit for a few years back. They are on fire right now, and having the creative minds of Boombox in-house is just an added bonus."

Vancouver's Best Breweries
"Storm is unique because there isn’t a tasting room, and you can’t just pop in for a pint. It’s go big or go home, go fill up your growler, take a tour, pick up a keg and get the heck out (kidding, the staff is lovely). Though you can’t lounge, you can taste a bunch of beer for a cash donation which is pretty sweet, plus it’s right on Commercial and has been brewin’ since ‘94 which is also cool."

Say Cheers to Vancouver's Top 10 Breweries
"Look out for the mural on the wall to find Vancouver’s ‘longest running craft brewery’ in gritty East Vancouver at 310 Commercial Drive. Enter through the loading bay and you’re in the working brewery, so watch out!. Brewer James Walton has been brewing up unpasteurized beer for nearly 25 years and you’ll only find fresh beer here — there are no cans or bottles in sight."
